Get up close and personal with a lobster. Smell the salt air, feel the gentle breeze against your face, enjoy the thrill of taking a lobster right out of a trap, and savour the experience of a traditional Island lobster supper aboard the 45-foot fishing boat Top Notch.
Your excursion vessel is a Four Ports Marine fiberglass boat, launched in 2004. Aboard, you’ll have ample power to cruise at speeds of up to 20 knots powered by a 660 HP Diesel Cat engine. There’s plenty of seating topside, and on those really sunny days, 3/4 of the deck is covered by shade. If necessary, the shaded area can be enclosed to give shelter from weather conditions. Top Notch’s cabin provides a private bathroom, and the vessel is equipped with the latest safety and communication equipment, including 2 VHF radios, GPS, GPS Chart Plotter, and a sounder. As safety is of the utmost importance, Top Notch is licensed with the "Small Vessel Monitoring & Inspection Program" by Transport Canada as well as inspected under the Food Safety Program by the Health Department.
Top Notch’s amenities and provisions are in place to provide you with a smooth and unforgettable experience as you sail out of Charlottetown Harbour with Captain Mark Jenkins, a fourth generation Prince Edward Island fisher. Aboard, you’ll discover what it’s like to haul a trap or band a claw. Take a turn at the wheel. Learn about the modern technology used in today’s lobster fishery while Captain Mark delights you with tales of the industry’s early days when lobster wasn’t considered the delicacy it is today. Sail into the Northumberland Strait, past historic Port La Joye/Fort Amherst and scenic Governor’s Island. Along the way, you’ll experience breathtaking views, pass the home of Island sea birds and marine life, and savour one of PEI’s true pleasures --- fresh lobster.
